Truth Social Launches a $100,000-a-Month API and Wall Street Is Already Paying

Trump Media's Truth API went live August 1, selling real-time access to market-moving posts — at least five firms have already signed up, and Senate Democrats are furious about it.

Here's the thing: markets were already moving on Truth Social posts. Trump Media & Technology Group just decided to charge for the privilege of finding out first.

Truth API launched August 1. The new application programming interface gives paying subscribers a 'direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform's most market-moving Truths,' according to interim CEO Kevin McGurn. The price tag: up to $100,000 per month. At least five firms have already signed the check.

The product fills a genuine gap. Until now, financial institutions had been manually monitoring Truth Social for the president's announcements — on the Iran war, energy policy, and other market-sensitive topics — with no structured data feed. Truth API is Trump Media's first such service, and McGurn framed it squarely as a monetization play: 'a high-margin, recurring revenue stream' built on 'proprietary assets.'

The president's @realDonaldTrump account is the largest on the platform by a wide margin and the one most likely to move markets. Trump's family is also the largest shareholder in Trump Media, the public company that operates Truth Social.

Congress noticed. Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) wrote to SEC chair Paul Atkins this week urging the commission to investigate or ban the product, calling it 'an outrageous abuse of the President's office for his personal benefit that undermines everyday investors and the integrity of our markets, while enriching Wall Street and other wealthy insiders.' Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) separately wrote to major financial trade associations — including the Bank Policy Institute and the American Bankers Association — urging them to reject Truth API, arguing it 'creates a clear and unacceptable pathway for corruption.'

Trump Media pushed back without blinking. A company spokesperson told New York Magazine that 'Senate Democrats continue to mischaracterize Truth API either out of ideological opposition to free markets or a failure to grasp the distinction between public and nonpublic information — or, quite possibly, both.'

Voltage's read: An API that packages publicly available posts and sells access to them faster is, structurally, a media product — not unlike a premium wire service. The corruption framing assumes the underlying posts are policy decisions made for the API's subscribers rather than announced publicly and then monetized after the fact. That is a meaningful distinction the SEC will have to work through. What is not in dispute: Trump Media found a recurring revenue stream, Wall Street found a faster feed, and the administrative state is now being asked to regulate the speed of a social media scroll. The demo is not the product — but in this case, five firms already bought the product, which suggests the demo was pretty convincing.
