PUEBLA, Mexico — Canada walked out of Estadio Universitario de la BUAP on Saturday as Group C leaders, but not without a scare. A 2-2 draw with Jamaica in the final matchday of the CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Championship left both teams level on five points — Canada on top only by goal difference.
Jamaica came out sharper. Brandon Bent worked down the left flank in the 21st minute and centered for Jahmarie Nolan, who pushed it home to make it 0-1. The Caribbean side had chances to extend that lead — Jamone Lyle and Jahmani Bell both misfired — and headed into halftime with more than the scoreline suggested.
Canada leveled in the 56th minute when Valter Sedin's shot from the right deflected off a defender and crept inside the near post. Then, in the 79th minute, Marius Aiyenero converted a penalty after a handball by Scott to put Canada ahead 2-1.
It looked done. It was not. Deep into stoppage time — the 90+12 minute — Jamaica earned a penalty of their own after a handball inside the area. Sean Leighton stepped up and equalized, sending the match to a 2-2 final.
The draw was enough for Canada, whose superior goal difference across the group stage secured first place. Jamaica qualified in second. Both advance to the quarterfinals.

The tournament — the CONCACAF U-20 Championship — serves as a qualifier for both the 2027 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
